origins of touhouproject.neocities

well, I made the neocities account in 2020 for.. whatever reason. I don't really know how i even found neocites, but oh Well.r. i didn't do much with it, in early 2022 I used it as a photodump for my thousands of rentries I made. yes I was one of those kids. sadly. before that, I used some of it for my Myspace93 page in summer 2021. That was dun, and while looking for alternatives to that I found spacehey, which is what i joined in early early 2023. For myspace93, I had a mutual code the thing for me because I didn't know how to style it. On spacehey, I developed a very basic understanding of code by amalgamating other peoples... styling... Everyone learns i.n their own ways.

My website started out looking like this:

Yeah.. But I still think it's really cute!! and my current layout tries to pay homage to it because.. um it's freaking cute!.. I will admit, I stole the div box from my friend Rosie over at memorisleep headquarters. I didn't know what classes were, so all the text was black and all the links were blue and EVERY div container was. 500px blue border dashed... Lol..

this all changed on a fateful october 6th 2023 when I tried to add my karl selfship webring BADGE and it didn't work. AND I WAS WEIRDED OUT!.. Now, I will admit something And I am not proud of it... I didn't know proper styling then either (because i had abandoned my website completely between that 8 month period) but had come across this website by purupurple...

yeah, I control inspected it then dissected the css it to see how it worked. This period at the start of everything.. It fixes everything! But I don't know how I got a proper grasp on css classes. All I know was that I never ever used IDs. ever. never.

I thought it was really cute at the time, but looking back at it.. oh my god O_o. what is that !

this homepage didn't last long tho, shortly after I discovered the display:flex tag in css, and I overused it alot. I don't remember how I discovered it. I think I found it on reddit, or maybe I asked chatgpt. I don't know.
yeah, in my really early coding days I would sometimes ask chatgpt how to do certain things. I stopped when I found out how to stack two containers on top of eachother :-)

this one lasted even LESS!!! I think it lasted 6 days, IDK, but i knew it was really ugly. Tehre is a theme of blue, and also yukkuri. i was rly obsessed with yukkuri around the time I made this, but it didnr last long :P I really hate this one, I hate who I was when I made this one ;_; I was so Weird. Odd.
