Marisa and Alice's Cookie☆Kiss

I have alot to say about cookie though as a western fan, My knowledge is very limited. most of it is inside jokes created by a niche japanese community.. that's also been dead since ~2018. if you've never heard of it (which, youve likely encountered one of the characters, if not two...) you're probably thinking while looking at the image to the left, "is that not reimu hakurei surrounded by two marisa kirisames? this is just touhou. why call it cookie?" to which i'd tell you YES!.. and no. Let me explain,

Cookie☆OG

Cookie comes from a slightly obscure touhou fan video slash voice drama, marisa and alice's cookie kiss . It was organized and produced by Hazuna Rio (called HZN, I will explain why later) some years ago, published to NicoNico douga february 15th 2010. Cookiefags refer to this as cookie☆OG since it's the video that started all these oddities.

one thing to note about cookie☆og is that it SUCKED. some find it cheesily written and some find it hard to watch because of the clashing artstyles and pictures. It was directed poorly, which caused some scenes to not make sense since a character could be baking a cake in one scene, and laying in bed in the other which does not happen in the video, just an example.

we have poor production, poor art / scene direction and the second main focus of all the hate was the Bouyomi.

Bouyomi / 棒読み

→→→ → Translates directly from Japanese to English as "Stick Reading".

I'm a westerner who has an horrendous understanding of japanese terms and am afraid of describing them to other westerners in fear that I will be wrong, but from what i do understand, bouyomi means to have stiff reading , like you're not trying to act or portray any sort of emotion, you are just reading off of a piece of paper. The bouyomi in cookie made it hard for some listeners to stay focused and made it easy for other listeners to throw their tomatoes at it.

after some time it was revealed by many women involved in the production of cookie that HZN had been creepy towards them, even offering to take one of them to a hotel. This caused even more hate for the video to start, and eventually leading HZN to leave the internet with no known re-appearances.

with all this shit piled on top of more shit, cookie had alot of MADs (eastern YTPs, basically) created to mock it. Now, there's another community I know of that had made MADs to mock the original video.. And Humm, you know what else it has in common with cookie? Humm, oh, bouyomi. Ohh, what could I possibly be thinking of?
